Will the Photographer Be Gentle with My Newly Born Baby?

RESPECTING THE NEEDS OF NEWBORNS

Will the Photographer Be Gentle with My Newly Born Baby?

Comfort and Safety of Newborns

Comfort and safety of infants has always been a top priority at Jennifer McNeil Photography. This is one reason why parents trust me as their photographer to be gentle with their newly born baby.

Babies are so pure and innocent, they are best captured as newborns in the early days after birth, but that is also when they are most fragile and must be given the utmost care and respect. I prefer a natural approach to newborn photos which doesn’t include contorted poses that can cause discomfort to your child. Because my style of newborn photos is predominately swaddled and wrapped, babies are more easily relaxed. I move slowly for everything I pose and set up, because being gentle with a newborn is important!

Reading Baby’s Cues

Part of being gentle and compassionate with your newborn infant is being able to read the cues they are giving. Respecting their needs and making sure to stop photos when he or she is hungry, allows for a smooth session where Baby can be more content. This may mean that we have a lot of stop time in between taking photos, but without giving the proper care to your new baby, a photographer will only get diminishing results in the photos.

Being a Baby Whisperer to Gently Ease Babies into Poses

Parents often tell me I’m a baby whisperer, and that wouldn’t be the case if I forced babies to do anything. The art of newborn photography is all about knowing what a baby wants and needs, and working with comfort and safety to create beautiful images.

Wrapped or curled up poses in the studio allow for babies to feel the comfort of womblike positions and feel safe in being completely supported. The best photos are taken when babies are happy, relaxed, comfortable and safe!
