When it comes to a studio newborn session, I believe you should have the best possible experience and go home with not only beautiful photos, but wonderful memories of our time together. This is why I believe in helping you plan ahead to create a personalized session, then expertly and safely capturing images during your session. Here is what you can expect from start to finish.
When we initially speak via phone, I want to get to know you! What excites you most about parenthood, what are your dreams for this child? Getting to know you greatly helps me to create a personal experience and style your session around your preferences. In subsequent meetings we will discuss the finer details and of course when baby is born, I’ll send over a prep guide to ensure you are ready for the big day. But don’t worry, I keep it simple!
As a huge believer in baby safety for newborn photos, I start with keeping the studio environment clean and comfortably warm. When you arrive, you can put down your diaper bag, sit on the couch, and relax knowing you are in a safe space. I strictly adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines as set forth by APNPI where I hold both a Safety Certification, as well as a Newborn Photography accreditation. In addition to this, I also follow KBO safety practices as outlines by the safety certificate I hold there as well.
Keeping comfort in mind, your baby will be swaddled and posed with the utmost care, ensuring they are happy and calm. My approach is gentle and patient and while some babies need more soothing than others, they always sleep for much of the session.
More than my experience in photographing countless babies, my passion allows me to continuously strive for beautiful, timeless images that you will love. The props, wraps, and clothing items I have curated over the years lend themselves to my colorful approach to imagery, only enhancing the overall joy in each photo. While swaddling babies is my superpower, I will also achieve a couple images of babies less wrapped up, to allow myself to capture the tiny details, such as hands and feet. Ultimately a variety of props, wraps, backdrops, and poses will create a gallery of numerous images for you.
It has been my belief from the beginning of my newborn photography career that parents should be in photos with their new baby. I don’t believe in charging extra for this service as its something so special to create – I hope to do so with every session! Prior to the session I will have spoken with you about coordinating outfits for these family images. I also have a collection of gowns in the studio that you may choose to wear for this purpose. Natural interactions and genuine family moments are my absolute favorite to record, which makes your experience authentic – all you need to do is hold your child, feel the love, and allow me to document the magic.
Immediately following your session, I get to work backing up and culling the images. My professional editing will enhance and perfect the best images and once everything is ready, I will reach out to you to schedule your viewing and ordering appointment. This process can take 2-3 weeks as I want to dedicate the time and attention to each image that you deserve. As a full service photographer, I offer a wide variety of products. Most clients decide on a variety of printed images either framed or in an album, everyone of course wants digital images as well. When your artwork order is placed, I will follow up with you to give you a timeline for delivery, and I am available to help hang any wall art you order, too!
It is my goal to provide you with an experience that is both convenient and high quality. If there is anything specific that you have questions about, I encourage you to ask during our consultation. This is a special time for you and I’m here to give it the special attention it deserves!
