Coordination: The main reason clients choose studio maternity photography over on-location options comes down to how the images will coordinate with later sessions. Especially in the case of booking a maternity session in conjunction with a studio newborn session, often families wish for the images to be printed and displayed together.  Studio portraits allow for this seamless coordination when designing gallery walls, albums and more.

Lighting control: Studio lighting provides a consistently flattering light source, which can be adjusted as needed to highlight the mother’s belly and create a desired effect.

Background: A neutral background, such as a solid wall or paper backdrop, allows the focus to remain on the mother’s belly and reduces the risk of distracting items in the background.

Styling: Being in a singular location allows for more variety to come from the styling of the session itself.  This could be a change of backdrop color, gowns, or props.

Comfort: A studio will provide a comfortable and private setting for the photo session. This can be especially important for mothers who wish to have more intimate photos and may be more comfortable indoors.
