I’m often asked if it’s too late for baby photos? Is one month too old for newborn photos? What about 2 or 3 months old? Photographers have many reasons for why 2 weeks old is the ideal time for newborn photos. Babies are more flexible at 2 weeks old. Newborns tend to be sleepiest in the first few weeks of life. Older babies are less predictable. These reasons are all valid, and true for many babies, but does that mean one month is too old for newborn photos?

No! Not at all! In fact, sometimes it can be better to wait a couple extra weeks for photos – for example if your baby needs special care or is in the NICU. New parents also need time to heal and recover after birth. Some are ready sooner than others, but if you need an extra week to adjust to having a brand new baby at home, take it. Your health and wellbeing, and that of your baby, is more important than the exact day of the photo session. P.S. All of the photos on this page feature babies at least one month old!
