Local Photo Studio

Jennifer McNeil Photography has a dedicated photo studio as an option for all her client’s maternity or newborn portraits.  All families are welcome to come and relax in the spacious 440 square foot studio during the photography session.  The photo studio is a full professional studio equipped with three distinct set ups for different backgrounds and styling to take place.  It is designed in a way to enable a smooth workflow from one area to the next allowing the Jennifer to quickly and effortlessly capture your family, you, and your newborn.

Photo Areas for Portrait Sessions

The photo studio areas include a 3 foot beanbag setup for the smallest of newborns.  Also it has a 5 foot backdrop setting for growing newborn babies and toddlers.  And finally a full a 10 foot backdrop setting for family portraits. The 10 foot section also works well with maternity portraits and other artistic photos.

The studio has also been used as a makeup, hair, and beauty salon.  Prior to a maternity session, some of my mother-to-be like look their best on site.  Salon services are available by request and have an additional fee.  You are welcome to bring your own beauty stylist prior to the session for no fee, for an hour of time.

The session area is configurable within the studio to allow for additional family to be in the photo session.  As well as space for wider poses than your standard 6 foot-wide backdrop, a large group would be 8 family members in the studio.

Cameras & Lenses

Jennifer McNeil Photography uses Canon cameras and lenses in her photo studio.  She uses a Canon EOS 6D for her stunning photos, and typically will use a professional Canon 24-70mm lens with F/2.8 for the majority of her portraits.  She also has main stays of her equipment bag of the Canon EF 100mm Macro lens and a Canon Speedlite 600 EX II-RT

Lighting

The photo studio has the ability to have (4) 400 watt soft boxes for fill lighting during a session.  And has a 84″ diameter PLM umbrella soft lighting system to fill in all the shadows around the subject.  Every subject requires different lighting.  Newborns are usually softer more natural lighting, while models are more artistic.  All of these styles of lighting can be accomplished in the studio with different settings.

Backdrops And Props

Along the side wall of the photo studio you will find a wide selection of props, wraps and accessories for your photo session.  Jennifer has a wide range of colors, styles and textures to help style your newborn session or add to children and family photos. There are endless combinations for your newborn baby to be swaddled, snuggled and safely positioned in. With the color options available, you can surely match the colors of your home or nursery.

Many clients find the perfect match for a statement piece above the mantle or crib.  The layout of the items is such that during your pre-session consultation you can browse the items and help pick your choices for the photo session.  You can even update those selections during the session if new items are available.

A Clean Photo Studio

All of props, wraps and accessories used in frame are thoroughly washed and sanitized after each session.  This gives you peace of mind for the cleanliness of the items touching your baby’s skin.  Being a mother herself, Jennifer understands the need for a clean environment for your little ones.  The photo studio is clean and tidy. Jennifer also up to date on all her vaccines, TB tests and flu shots to help you rest assured that your baby is in good hands.

Your Comfort

For your comfort there is a sofa and two sitting chairs to relax in during the session in the photo studio.  The room has targeted heating and cooling to enable the babies to feel most comfortable during the shoots.  There are extra USB charging ports for your phones and a dedicated refreshment area to get tea and coffee during your session.
